HOW TO USE THE HYDROGEL +

Find it hard to consume standard energy gels during physical activities? It's high time you try out the liquid energy gel called Hydrogel +!

Energy gels are very easy to consume during long trail runs, triathlons or marathons. What's more, they occupy very little space and give you a boost of energy all in one go. Yet, a large number of sportsmen and women don't like their thick consistency – making them difficult to swallow – or get tired of eating solids during their runs. With the Hydrogel, this is no longer a problem! It has almost the same consistency as water!

How is this new type of gel used? Is it as effective as standard gel? Follow the guide!

1/ IS HYDROGEL + AS EFFECTIVE AS A STANDARD ENERGY GEL?

The answer is yes! Like a standard gel, hydrogel gives you the energy you need thanks to the sugars, maltodextrin* and vitamins** that it contains. This gel also contains BCAAs (essential amino acids), which are components of muscle protein and important for rebuilding muscles.

The added extra: unlike other gels, it contains a significant amount of sodium, which compensates for the sodium lost through perspiration during physical exercise so that it's no longer necessary to take an isotonic drink or electrolytes. The intake of sodium helps to rehydrate the body.

2/ HOW TO USE THE HYDROGEL +

The Hydrogel + is used like a standard Energy gel + for physical activities exceeding 3 hours, except that, given its liquid consistency, there's no need to drink water to assimilate it.

a/ When to take Hydrogel +

We recommend taking 1 peach Hydrogel + every 45 to 60 minutes to compensate for the energy you lose during physical exercise.

If you feel tired or have a drop in concentration, take the cola Hydrogel + which contains 80mg of caffeine. In this case, increase the interval between doses and take it every 60 to 90 minute. This maintains just the right bioavailability of caffeine in the body.

b/ What supplement should you take?

Hydrogel + contains 23 g of carbs, including 8.3 g of simple sugars. Given that nutritionists recommend 60g of carbs (= sugars) per hour of sports activities exceeding 3h, you have the following two solutions:

- Take 500ml of isotonic drink per hour, in addition to the gel, to attain the recommended 60g intake of carbs.

- Take 2 to 3 doses of Hydrogel + alone per hour. If you choose the cola Hygrogel +, make sure that you alternate it with the peach flavour that doesn't contain any caffeine. Indeed, it's advisable not to consume more than 400mg of caffeine per day.

It's up to you to choose the formula that suits you best! Enjoy your run!

*Intake of 94kcal and 23g of carbs (maltodextrin, sugar) per gel.

**Vitamins B3, B6 and C help to reduce the fatigue.

As a sport enthusiast, I did dancing for a long time before discovering triathlon, which became a real addiction right from my first race! I am a fan of Sprint and Olympic distances, and I like the variety that this sport offers both in terms of its practice and the environment in which I can grow. Triathlons offer interesting challenges to look forward to with pleasure as the key!
